Ralphie gets his job back!

This is the second part I did for the Christmas Elf activity.  I did a reply letter from Santa.  This was also fun create.  The hardest thing to do, was getting the right colour for my letter.  The easiest thing was writing the letter because I love writing!  This was probably one of the funnest activity's I've done!!!


Will Ralphie get his job back?

This is my Christmas Elf activity.  The first thing I did was make an envelope.  This was really easy because I used a tool called line and a rectangle.  Then I wrote the address (the North Pole, obviously.)
Then who it was for.  Then I created the letter.  I used a scroll from shapes then started writing.  I named the naughty elf Ralphie because Ralphie sounds like a naughty boy.  Once I finished writing I decorated the letter because I thought that it would seem like an elf to do something like that!  This was really fun to make!

Wrapping paper!

The last activity I chose to do was the wrapping paper!  I decided to do the Rudolf level, which had the theme of Christmas trees.  I chose to do the Christmas trees because I had an idea to put presents on my wrapping paper.  The hardest thing was probably designing the Christmas tree because I had to work with curve and curve is quite hard to use.  One thing new I found out about google drawing was how to add a background.  You have to click on the google drawing with 2 fingers!  This was really fun to make!


Spot the difference!

For the third activity for my Christmas Countdown I decided to make a Christmas wreath!  I did the Rudolf level which was probably the easiest level.  I chose to do the easiest level because I'm still learning how to use google drawings!  I think I did a pretty good replica of a wreath because it kind of looks the same as the picture I used.  I think I am getting really good at google drawings.  Can you spot the difference?  By the way, there are heaps of differences.

MOG SAVES THE DAY!

This is my 2nd Christmas Countdown activity!  I chose to do the writing task.  I picked a video called Mog's Christmas Calamity.  This video is about a cat who ends up nearly burning down his owners house.  He saves the day by accidentally calling the fire brigade.  He also saved the day because his family thought they couldn't have Christmas.  But they were wrong, the whole  community came together to celebrate Christmas.  The moral of the story is:Christmas is for sharing!

"This is Paige here, reporting from Texas.  Breaking news, a cat is the town superhero.  This very little feline saved the day by calling the fire brigade.  This family should be really happy that they have a cat like this!  Not only did this little kitty save the day, he also brought the whole town together to share Christmas!  This is Bob, a witness from this very happy event."

"Hi I am the owner of Mog, the cat that saved Christmas!  If it wasn't for my lovely cat, our whole house would have been burnt down!  I can't believe someone evil would do this to my house!  Yes, not only did Mog save our house, he also brought the whole community together to have Christmas!"

SANTA!

This term we have bee doing a really cool thing called Christmas Countdown!  This activity is set by the teachers.  You get to choose different activities to do.  They are all Christmas themed.  I decided to do research first because I love researching things!  I decided to research about Santa!  I think my first Christmas activity is set to a high standard.

Year 6 Bike Ride

This year I am finally a year 6, which means I get to go on the year 6 bike ride!  When I was a year 5 I was so jealous that the year 6's got to go on the bike ride.  I was most excited for the Maccas stop!


When we found out our car information I was with Asha.  That was good but then above that it said we are going with a teacher!  It would either Mr Fraser or Miss Sowden.  We hoped it would be with Miss Sowden... and it was!  We were so happy!


When we got there we were ready to go!  My gears were in the wrong place so I had to go to the back and get an adult to help me.  When I changed my gears, I felt really fast on my bike.  We had to stop at a certain place, so I caught up with the crew.  When we took off again I was keeping up with the boys!  I was really proud of myself for that.  We rode and rode until we stopped and went too take a look at the waterfall!  It was beautiful!  Then we set of to this really old place to have lunch! 

Once we had lunch we had to it all over again.  We had to ride all the way back.  But the only change to our track was that we had to go on a narrow foot path by the gorge.  This was really scary because some bits were downhill and the path was really narrow!  But we all managed not to fall over!

We kept riding till we got back to our cars.  We then drove to McDonalds!  This was my favourite part.  I got an ice-cream, a cheese burger and a small chips! 

Cooking!

The last rotation the Knowledge Seekers did was cooking!  We got to cook a banana boat which is marshmallows and chocolate chips in a banana that is slit open.  Then we got to cook a potato with ham and cheese on it.

These things were really easy to prepare.  For the banana boat the banana was already slit open so you just had to stuff marshmallows and chocolate chips in it.  For the potatoes you had to cut your potato in half and put ham on cheese on it.  When I ate the potato I called it a hamburger.  I liked the ham and cheese in it, but I didn't really like the potato.  When I tried the banana boat I was in love!!!  The chocolate chips had melted and it tasted so good with roasted marshmallows.  This was really fun and yummy!  I LOVE COOKING!!!


FIRE!

The second activity we did was making a fire.  In this activity we had to build a base of a fire with some sticks and something else that I can't remember the name of.  We also had to have a go at making sparks with flint and steel!

The first thing my troop did was making a base of the fire.  This was really easy because all you had to do is build a little tee pee with sticks.  Then my troop went to the flint and steel.  People that had done it before said that it was really hard to get sparks.  When I hit it first I got no sparks, the next time I hit it I got a whole bunch of sparks!  When all the groups had a go at making the base of the fire and making sparks with flint and steel, Mrs Kennedy tried to make a actual fire.  This didn't work because there was too much wind.  My favourite part was making sparks with flint and steel because I could actually get sparks!


Orienteering

For the past few weeks we have been doing something called Whetu Survivor.  In this we have been researching all the things you need to know to survive in the bush.  Once we finished doing that we celebrated and did some cooking, orienteering and learning how to start a fire.  The first rotation the Knowledge Seekers did was the orienteering!

In the orienteering we had a map with clues on where to find the keys.  The keys were letters, each time we found a key we had to write it down on a piece of paper.  Once you had found all the keys, you needed to unscramble them which had to be the answer to this question:What do bears call campers in sleeping bags?  At first my group were just making up random words.  After a while we starting complaining that we don't have bears in NZ.  Then Miss Sowden said that the answer was edible and straight away I knew that the answer was burrito!  I think we were the first group to get the answer!  I really enjoyed this and at the same time I found it really challenging!  I would love to do it again!

FABULOUS FINISH!!!

This term we have read the book Ghost!  We could choose from a variety of activities to do each week.  When we finished the book, it was time to do FABULOUS FINISH!  With our Fabulous Finishes we had to pick a character from the book and share what we've learned about that character.  We also have to present our knowledge in a creative way. I chose to do Coach Otis Broady because he seems like a interesting character!  This term I created a puzzle!  I created a puzzle because I think that it's a creative way to present something!

I first drew a puzzle.  This was quite hard because I couldn't get all the pieces exactly the same size.  I then drew Coach Broady inside the puzzle.  He's wearing a Defenders top and a pair of shorts.  I then drew things that represent him on the side.  I drew a taxi because he's a taxi driver.  I drew what he was thinking.  I also drew a gold medal and put a equals sign next to it, then drew money.  I did this because Coach Broady won an Olympic gold medal and his dad sold it to buy drugs.  I then coloured in!  Once I finished colouring in, I was up to the hard bit... Cutting out my pieces.  This was probably the most difficult thing because I'm not good at cutting out!

When I finished cutting out I attached the puzzle pieces with some string.  When I finished doing that it was time to pack up so I put my puzzle where the Fabulous Finishes needed to go.  When I can back and got my puzzle, it was all tangled up.  I couldn't untangle my puzzle, so I operated surgery on it and cut the strings.  This is probably one of the dumbest thing I've done.

I really enjoyed doing Fabulous Finishes throughout the terms!  I think that this puzzle is probably the best Fabulous Finish I've ever done because I think it looks really good.  The easiest thing to do was come up with thoughts that he could be thinking.  I can not choose what the funnest thing doing was because it was all fun.  I am really proud of my Chapter Chat because it took a lot of time and effort to make.  In the end it looked better then what I thought it would!

Bush Survival Info

The S.T.O.P acronym.
The S.T.O.P acronym is commonly used when a child and a parent become separated.  This is made to keep a child calm.  This is a good thing to know because a child will know what to do if they if become alone.  It is also a good thing to know when your just in a simple disaster and you don't know what to do.

Stop
Think
Observe
Plan

Finding fresh water.
When out in the wild water is the main thing you need to focus on.
  • You can start to dig a hole 3-4 meters deep.
  • Water naturally flows downhill so you may want to head in that direction.
  • You can follow animal tracks if you see them.
  • Remember you can survive 3 weeks without food and only 3 days without water.
When you find water you may want to boil it over a hot fire to make sure it's clean and safe to drink.

Shelter
A shelter is one of the key things you need to know about, especially when you end up staying in the wild over night.
  • Always build your shelter on a dry and flat surface.
  • When it's windy, put your shelter under some trees.
  • Make sure that you have something under you while you sleep.
  • Some shelters are natural so if you find one, don't bother to make one from scratch.

How to start a fire.
A fire is another key thing to know how to do.  If your body temperature goes down it may kill you.
  • To start a fire you will need to gather some kindling, sticks and tinder.
  • Strike your kindling together until you see some sparks.
  • When you start to see sparks put it on your sticks.
  • Remember a fire needs oxygen to stay alive so you may want to blow on it it to get flames.

Basic first aid.
When you get hurt you need to know some basic first aid to help you stay alive.
  • You will need to know how to put some bandages on someone.
  • Remember when someone gets a blister or something that could get infected remember to cover it.
  • If you put a bandage on, remember to change it daily.

Signalling for help.
Signalling for help is also a crucial thing you will need to know how to do.  
  • You can simply shout out help three times.
  • You can make a fire where there are no trees around.
  • You can whistle really loud.

The Clove Hitch Knot.

This is the fourth knot I decided to master.  I decided to master 4 knots instead of 3 because I had time and I wanted to master more then just 3 knots. I chose to master a Clove Hitch Knot.  When I finished Christine told me it wasn't really a knot because it just looked like you wrapped rope around a stick.  But she said I could still post it on my blog. 


A Clove Hitch has many uses, one is that it can be used to control a rope that a climber is attached too and keep it really tight!  The Clove Hitch is also the beginning step of many lashings.  The difficulty rating I give the Clove Hitch is a 1/5 because it was really easy to do.  I think that it was really easy to master because your pretty much just crossing over a piece of string.

Term 4 WK 5 Chapter Chat:Digital Design

This is my Chapter Chat for this week.  I chose to do Digital Design.  I was going to just do a book review but I finished that on Monday so I decided to do multiple Digital Designs on 1 google drawing.  I also chose to do the avatar one and to design a flag for the Defenders.

The first thing I did was find a track off the internet for my background.  Then I created avatars.  This took me quite a long time because I wanted the avatars to look a lot like the characters in the story.  I then went on this cool website that gives you cool fonts to put the name of each character on their avatar.  I then created a flag.  The flag was quite easy because I already had an idea on what to put on it.  I put a running man clip art on it, the team name Defenders and at the bottom I put "the fastest track team in town" because I remember coach saying that in the book.  The third thing I did was right my review.  Once I had finished the review I was going to say I was finished but my work looked blank.  So I put 10 stars above my review and coloured in 7 because that's what I rated the book.

The hardest thing to do was probably the avatars because it was hard choosing the hair (apart from Coach Brody because he has no hair.)  The easiest thing was designing the flag.  The funnest thing to do was putting the stars above the review because it was fun creating the colour.

I put a lot of effort into this and I am proud of what my work looks like!  I think that I have created an overflowing jar of honey!

Bowline Knot

The third knot I have decided to master is the Bowline Knot.  When you finish tying the Bowline Knot you may have a big loop or a small loop.  I chose to do a Bowline Knot because it looked cool!  Here is the knot.  Sorry it's upside down.
You can use the Bowline Knot to tie a heavy loading.  It easy to untie.  You can also use this knot to tie 2 things together.  I give this knot a 2/5 because I could tie this knot the first time I tried.  Once I finished tying this knot I taught other people how to tie the knot!

Alpine Butterfly Knot

The second knot that I have decided to master is called the Alpine Butterfly Knot!  You can tell if you have done this knot correctly because once you have finished you should be able to see a neat, little x.  When tying the Butterfly knot you can use your hand or you can just use the string.  I found using my hand was easier.  Here is the knot.
You can use the Alpine Butterfly knot when your mountain climbing.  You can use this knot to tie yourself to a rope.  You can also use this knot to isolate a damaged section of rope.  I give this rope a difficulty rating of 2/5 because I watched a video and the guy that was showing me how to do it made the instructions really clear.

The Reef Knot

This survivor rotation the Knowledge Seekers are learning how to tie knots!  We can choose from 8 different knots that all have useful proposes.  We have to master 3 knots to earn a gold badge!  The first knot I have decided to master is the Reef Knot.
You can use the Reef Knot when you are securing a first aid sling because it will stay flat and it is easy to untie.  You can also use the Reef Knot to secure a bundle of objects because the objects.  I give the Reef Knot a 3/5 because the first time I tried to tie the Reef Knot it didn't work but then I kept trying and eventually I mastered it!

Lacebark.

The Lacebark has 2 other names.  The thousand  jacket and Ribbon wood.  Both these names refer to the soft fibre underneath the trees bark. 

The Lacebark is found in coastal and lowland forests in the upper north island.  But because it has been plated widely in New Zealand you may find some of these trees in gardens and places where they never existed before. 

The Lacebark has nice and soft bark and in the summer the tree gets covered in beautiful white flowers.

The bark of this tree is used to weave things.  The Lacebark is in the mallow family of trees which has people using these trees as medicine.  The leaves and the flowers of this tree can be used as medicine.  The bushman would soak the leaves in water and drink that broth to help their stomachaches.

The inner bark of the Lacbark was eaten only if one was extremely hungry.  The inner bark did not taste edible.

Extremely, Excellent Outdoor Shelter Challenge.

For our last challenge in the shelters group we had to make a shelter!  We got a tarpaulin and some rope.  My group decided to make an A-frame buy tying the rope between 2 trees and putting the tarpaulin over the rope.  Once we had that sorted we put sticks through the holes in the tarpaulin to keep it on the ground.  When our shelter was completed it was very stable.  


The next step was to put up a tent.  Mrs Kennedy had brought some tents for us to put up.  We had to read the instructions and as a team put up a tent.  First we had to feed the sticks through the holes.  That was the only hard part.  When we finished that, the other steps were quite easy.  Our group put up the tent really fast because we all had experience putting tents up before.  I had a lot of fun doing this and I learnt a lot about shelters too.

My team worked really well together.  We all had parts to do and we did them really well.  The hardest thing to do was putting the sticks through the holes of the tarpaulin so the shelter would stay.  The easiest thing to do was put the tent up because we all knew how to put a tent up.  I learnt how to build a shelter.  I am happy that I know how to build one because if I ever have to do one again I know what to do.

Term 4 WK 4 Chapter Chat:Creation Station

This is my Chapter Chat for this week.  I chose to make an advertisement poster for the book Ghost!  I think we had to make an advertisement poster for Ghost because this is our last week reading the book Ghost. 

The first thing I started to do was draw a gold medal.  I chose to draw a gold medal because I was thinking about the Olympics.  Inside the medal I drew things related to the story.  I drew a Defenders top because Castle is on the Defenders team.  A gun because his Dad was trying to shoot him and his Mum.  A basketball because he plays basketball.  The first aid symbol because his Mum works at a hospital and a track with a finish line because he does track!  When I was finished all that I put quotes from the book on the side.  I then decorated my work with polka dots and stars.

My favourite thing about my Chapter Chat was drawing a gold medal because I think it's more creative then just drawing a circle.  The funnest thing was decorating because I like colouring in things.  The hardest thing to do was probably coming up with quotes to put on the side of my poster.

I put a lot of effort into this and I am proud of the end result.  I think my work is an overflowing jar of honey.

Tent Ideas













Shelter Information

When your out in the wild, a shelter is one of the key things you need to know how to do.  A shelter is a structure that can protect you over night.  All shelters are different.  Some shelters are natural and are provided in the wild.  Some shelters you need to make.  But most of the time all shelters have the same use.

The best place to build a shelter would be on dry, flat land.  Avoid building shelters on hills as this will result to cold air at night.  If you build a shelter near a river or creek your shelter may be washed away.  You will also be around a lot of bugs and insects near a river.  Fallen trees, logs and overhanging rocks are also an ideal place to build a shelter as your shelter has something to lean on.

A shelter is made to protect one from harsh conditions and animals that the wild may contain.  Some shelters are made to protect one from the cold, while others are made to protect one from the heat.  Shelters provide humans a dry and safe sleeping area protecting you from bugs and insects that are roaming through the ground.

You can make your shelters out of natural material because they are just as good as man made things.  To build the frame of your shelter you could use sticks and tie it together with some flax.  Then you just need a cover.  Your cover can be made out of bark, leaves and debris.  A tip for making your cover is that if you can see rays of sun coming through you need to add more layers.

Some pros of a shelter are:

  • Shelters are quick and easy to build when you know what your doing.
  • When building a shelter you don't have to make accurate measurements.
  • It's really easy to find a place to make your shelter because you just need flat ground and something to lean on.
  • You have protection at night from the weather and wildlife.


Some cons of a shelter are:

  • Shelters are very uncomfortable.
  • You might not have elevation from the ground.
  • Your shelter may not be stable and collapse.

Term 4 Wk 3 Chapter Chat:A way with words

This is my Chapter Chat for this week.  I chose to do A way with words.  The Chapter Chat task was to design a poem about Ghost or any other characters in the story.  I chose Patina because I think shes a cool person to write about.  She is also my favourite character so far!  For the type of poem I chose to do an acrostic poem.  I chose this because I already planned out what I was going to do in my head. 

The first thing I did was write Patina.  Each letter had a different font.  I decided to do this to make my work that little bit extra.  Then I wrote down the sentences.  Once I finished all that, I then went over my work with felt pens.  I chose the colours:red, orange, yellow and pink because there all vibrant colours.  I got that done pretty quick and I was going to just say I was finished, but I knew I could do better.  So I decided to do a background.  I just did a simple blend with the same colours that I used with the writing.  Once again, when I finished doing that I was going to say I was done.  But I added some polka dots!  I added colourful ones and then I added black little dots with a sharpie.  When I was done I was truly done! 

The funnest thing about doing my Chapter Chat was making my work look pretty!  I think I did a pretty good job at that.  Although the task this week was simple, I still added a lot of detail and effort into my Chapter Chat.  I am 100% sure that my work this week is an over flowing jar if honey!

Term 4 WK 2 Chapter Chat:Digital Design

This is my Chapter Chat for this week.  I chose to do Digital Design because the activity sounded really fun!  The task was to digitally design some running gear for Ghost.  This relates to our story because the main character Ghost wears jeans and a shirt to his training.  Even though he should really be wearing proper running gear

Instead of just creating running gear I created a poster for the shop, All Things Sport.  On the shorts and shirt they have the Defenders logo that I made up.  On the poster all the gear have a description of why they are good.  They also have a price that I also made up.  To be honest I think that the prices are way to high.  I also created a slogan for All Things Sport, it is: Remember we are always in style!

I am really proud of what I have created because I not only think it's creative, I  think that my works quite colourful too!  I put a lot of effort into this Chapter Chat!  I think that my Chapter Chat is an overflowing jar of honey!

2019 Calendar Art!

My Calendar Art!
This year for Calendar Art we could  Zentangle, draw scenes and do paper cut-outs.  I chose to do the paper cut out art.  I wanted to this because I thought it was cool to have some bits of my art coloured paper and some with pencil.  In this group we could choose to do flowers or crazy buildings.  I chose to do the crazy building one.  

The hardest thing to do was cutting out the paper because I had to get the right size.  I also found this hard because I'm quite bad using scissors.  The easiest thing was drawing my buildings because I knew what I was drawing.  The thing that I love about my calendar art is how I'm standing on the roof of the house!  

I had lots of fun creating my calendar art this year.  Although I'm not great at art I think that the art I did is pretty good!  I put a lot of effort into it!

Term 4, Week 1, Chapter Chat:Research Centre!

For the first week of Term 4 we have started to read the book Ghost!  This book is about a boy named Castle (nickname Ghost.)  He lives with his Mum and is poor.  He's really good at running, he says that he doesn't even get why people train to run because he can just run!

This week I chose to research about interesting world records!  We have to research about world records because Castle has a book about world records and always recites them!  He said that if there was a world record for knowing the most world records he would have it!  I chose to do research world records because I know that there are crazy world records out there and I'm interested in that type of topic.  I decided to create a google drawing because I don't always use it and I like a challenge!  I am really happy of how it turned out, I was so happy that I decided to do something extra!  I made:The Photo Frames Of Fame!  I got my inspiration from the Hall of Fame!  It has all the 5 people that researched about! 

I am really proud of how it turned out because I put a lot of effort into it!  This is my first Chapter Chat for this term and already I think I have set the standard high!

Paige's Holiday

 Chapter 1:Let's go?
It was a beautiful Wednesday morning as Paige woke up and realised that today was the day that she was going to her cousins in Auckland for a sleepover! She hopped out of bed and skipped to where her Mum was working and said, 
"Hey mum should I pack my stuff now so we can go?"
"You know Paige, your going when I finish work so you have a whole day ahead of you."
Once hearing that she replied with 
"Okay."
Then walked out of the room feeling disgruntled.  She had a whole day ahead of her with MJ.  MJ was not at all like other little kids.  if he wanted something that he couldn't have, he would fight to get it.

Chapter 2:War
Soldier you must play tag with me outside.  I am going to make your legs run until yours shoes, um.. Your shoes get covered in grass.  You got that sargent?
Sir yes s-

"Paige, Paige."
MJ had to say her name a couple of times to get her to wake up from a terrible daymare (Nightmare and daydream clashed together.)  
"What?"
"Can you pay wif me?"
Her brother had lack of speech.  
"NO!"
As Paige walked off to the lounge her sneaky brother followed.  Paige sat down on the couch and turned on the tv.  She didn't have much to do at home, so she was glad that they had a TV.  She had thought if they didn't have a TV then the holidays would be humdrum!  Afterall, who wouldn't watch TV?  For a while her brother sat their with a closed mouth watching for a while.  That time flew past like a jet flying at top speed becasue soon he said,
"Paige can you pay now?  I ant to pay outdide." he blabbered.
"Later, OK?"  She lied.
Suprisingly herf brother didn't ask her again.  The day was soon coming to an end which meant... She can go to her cousins!
Chapter 3:Let's go,go,go!
 Soon they were in the car and zooming off to Auckland.  They soon came to a stop  , when they reached traffic!  The ride would have been much shorter if there wasn't any traffic.  Paige was starting to get mad!  She hated traffic.  
After a long and dreaded ride, they had made it to Paige's cousins!  As soon as we got there Paige ran in and gave her cousins a extended and warm hug!  She doesn't get the oppurtunity to see them much, so when Paige does she makes the most of it!  As Mum left she and her cousins went swimming for atleast an hour then hoped out.  


Chapter 4:JUMP!
It was Paige's second day at her cousins and today was her favourite.  They were going to jump!  Paige had never been to jump before so she was exited to get more experience about it.  When they arrived at Jump she was so shocked!  Paige thought it looked amazing!  There were tramolines and theres was this plank where you had to jump off and land in a foam pit!  There were also these things that you had to climb up and touch the roof!  She took her first step of one of the tramopline and jumped!  She had jumped so high that when she landed she fell on her behind!  Once she had had enough of bouncing up and down, she decided to walk the plank.  Paige thought it would really easy, but when she got up there she began to get dizzy and didn't want to jump off anymore!  Sadly with a great heave her cousins puched her off!  She didn't like that at all.  Sadly the hour they had to play was up and they soon were back in the car to get sushi for lunch.


Chapter 5:Pu, pu, pu!
It was her third and final day at her cousins so they decided to go to the arcade!  Paige was especially excited about the laser tag, although she wasn't that great at it.  
When they arrived straight away she had a very serious game of air hockey.  She won easly but didn't want to rub it in her cousins face.  Especially because she payed.  They played a couple more games then played laser tag!  Laser tag was so fun.  She got out a lot and only ended up shooting one person but she loved the game.  Inside the area it was all dark and Paige and her cousins had to wear night vision goggles to play.  She didn't like that part about it because the gggles started to hurt her eyes a bit!  All fun times came to an end and they were soon going back to her cousins house!

Chapter 6:Home sweet home!
She really enjoyed spending time with her cousins and found it quite hard to leave, but she couldn't wait to go back home to her family and dogs!

Chapter 1:Let's go?
It was a exquisite Wednesday morning as Paige woke up and realised that today was the day that she was going to her cousins in Auckland for a sleepover! She hopped out of bed and skipped to where her Mum was working and said, 
"Hey mum should I pack my stuff now so we can go?"
"You know Paige, your going when I finish work so you have a whole day ahead of you."
Once hearing that she replied with 
"Okay."
Then walked out of the room feeling a little disgruntled.  She had a whole day ahead of her with her brother, MJ.  MJ was not at all like other little kids.  If he wanted something that he couldn't have, he would fight to get it.

Chapter 2:War
Soldier you must play tag with me outside.  I am going to make your legs run until yours shoes, um.. Your shoes get covered in grass.  You got that sargent?
Sir yes s-

"Paige, Paige."
MJ had to say her name a couple of times to get her to wake up from a terrible daymare (Nightmare and daydream clashed together.)  
"What?"
"Can you pay wif me?"
Her brother was terrible at talking.
"NO!"
As Paige walked off to the lounge her sneaky brother followed.  She sat down on the couch and turned on the tv.  She didn't have much to do at home, so she was glad that they had a TV.  She had thought if they didn't have a TV then the holidays would be humdrum!  After all, who wouldn't watch TV?  For a while her brother sat down with her, with his mouth closed.  That time flew past like a jet flying at top speed because soon he said,
"Paige can you pay now?  I ant to pay outdide." he blabbered.
"Later, OK?"  She lied.
Surprisingly her brother didn't ask again.  The day was soon coming to an end which meant... She can go to her cousins!
Chapter 3:Let's go,go,go!
 Soon they were in the car and zooming off to Auckland.  They  came to a stop when they reached traffic!  The ride would have been much shorter if there wasn't any traffic.  Paige was starting to get exasperated!  She hated traffic.  
After a long and dreaded ride, they had made it to Paige's cousins!  As soon as they got there Paige ran in and gave her cousins a extended and warm hug!  She doesn't get the opportunity to see them much, so when Paige does she makes the most of it!  As Mum left she and her cousins went swimming for at least an hour and then hoped out.  


Chapter 4:JUMP!
It was Paige's second day at her cousins and today was her favourite.  They were going to Jump!  Paige had never been to Jump before so she was exited to get more experience about it.  When they arrived at Jump she was so shocked!  Paige thought it looked amazing!  There were trampolines and there was this plank where you had to jump off and land in a foam pit!  There were also these things that you had to climb up and touch the roof!  She took her first step of one of the trampoline and jumped!  She had jumped so high that when she landed she fell on her behind!  Once she had had enough of bouncing up and down, she decided to walk the plank.  Paige thought it would be really easy, but when she got up there she began to get dizzy and didn't want to jump off anymore!  Sadly with a great heave her cousins pushed her off!  She didn't like that at all.  Sadly the hour they had to play was up and they soon were back in the car to get sushi for lunch.

The Holes Movie Trailer

For the Best Blog on the Block I did an extra activity!  I chose to do a movie trailer with a couple of other people.  I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't post the actual trailer on my blog.  I was really proud of us when we had finished making our trailer because we only had 2 days to finish!  Even though we only had 2 days to finish our trailer, the end product was amazing!  The thing I think we could have done better was cutting out some bits of music so we could hear some people talking!  A long the way I learned how to edit!  Now that I know how to edit I can each more people how to do that!  I had really fun making a movie trailer for Holes!  I would definitely do something like that again!  I think that our movie trailer is an overflowing jar of honey!

My Dream Holiday!

This is my Dream Holiday!  I decided to go to the great Gold Coast because my family's there and because there is lots of fun theme parks you can visit!  The hardest thing to do was finding the right flight with the right dates!  If I could go on this Dream Holiday I would be so, so happy because I put loads of fun things in there!  The thing that I really want to visit is Seaworld because it has not only fun rides but sea animals you can look at!  I think that I put a lot of time and effort into this and I have created a slideshow that's a overflowing jar of honey!

The speech competition!

This week, I was chosen to go and represent Ngatea Primary in the Hauraki Plains Speech Competition with Georgia!  I did my speech about Animal History!  We presented our speeches at the college hall!  I was really nervous and had so many butterfly's!  We got to sit on a seat with our name on it, which I thought was really cool because it felt like I was a VIP!  There were 9 people sharing speeches in the age category year 5/6.  I was going up 8th!  When I was up there I was focusing on speaking loud and being very clear!  I got up there and I dropped a card in the middle of my speech, but even though I dropped a card I kept on going!

Later it was time time to hear the results!

I came first!  I was not only proud of myself but I was proud of representing my school!
It was an awesome experience saying my speech and I will definitely try to be in that place next year!

Movie Reflection!

This is my Movie Reflection for the movie Holes!  I thought it was so cool that our teachers let us watch the movie!  What was even cooler was that they provided us with popcorn and lollies!  I am really thankful for that!  Thank you Whetu Teachers!

USA!

This is my book cover for the amazing book, USA!  I am really proud of how my book cover turned out because I'm really bad when it comes to doing stuff digitally.  I chose the colours red and white for the background because on the American flag the colours are red and white!  The hardest thing to create was probably doing the sheep because I had to use a mixture of shapes and the tool scribble!  The easiest thing to do was pick the font because I already had an idea of what font to use!


This is the back of the book I created.  I did the same colours on my front cover for the background!  I think I did a good blurb on my book, good enough to convince you to buy this book!

My CAKE!!!

For the past 2 weeks I have been busy creating my FABULOUS FINISH for the book Holes!  I decided to make a cake about Charles Walker, also known as Trout because of his smelly feet! Sorry I didn't make a real tasty cake.  I decided to make a cake because I thought that it was just a really unique way to present something!  I made a cake with slices that you pull out to see what other people think about Charles Walker.

The first thing I had to do was make the base of the cake.  It took me about 2 days to make 6 slices!  I was really proud of this because I thought I would have taken 1 whole week!  Once I had created my 6 slices I was ready to paint!  I wanted my cake to stand out and be really vibrant, so I decided to paint my cake a bright yellow and pink!  The painting took a bit longer then I expected to, but in the end I had a cake that satisfied me!  When the paint had dried the next step was to write the information on pieces of paper!

When I completed that it was time to decorate!  I made icing on the side and little rainbow sprinkles!  For the icing I just got little bits of paper, coloured them in, scrunched them up then hot glued them to my cake!  For the sprinkles I just got rainbow coloured tape and chopped of little bits to stick on my cake!  Decorating was by far my favourite stage of creating my cake.

When I finished I was really proud of how it turned out!  I put a lot of effort into my cake and I think that effort had pulled off!  I definitely think that my Fabulous Finish wasn't only an overflowing jar of honey, but better then all my other Fabulous Finishes!

Central Park 5

This is my research about the Central Park 5.  The task was to research about people that were wrongly convicted by police.   We had to research about this because Stanley was wrongly convicted of stealing a pair of shoes.  I don't know what to call my creation but I think that it looks awesome.  The reason why I chose to research about the Central Park 5 is because I had heard about it before.  I feel really sad for the 5 boys that were accused of doing this crime because they were so young and the police wasn't even sure that they did it.  I think the only reason why police convicted those boys was because they had a different colour skin.  I like the colours that I chose for my Chapter Chat because I think that the bright colours make it pop!  I really enjoyed making my Chapter Chat.  The thing I enjoyed most doing was getting information about the Central Park 5.  The thing that I think I could've done better is not writing things up side down.  I loved creating my Chapter Chat this week.  I think the effort I put in was really high!

Fantastic Favourite!

This is my Fantastic Favourite!  I chose to do the Digital Design which was to create a missing persons poster for Stanley or Zero.  I chose to do Stanley because I don't think that people will know who Zero (Hector Zeroni) is.  We had to do this because Zero and Stanley ran away from Camp Green Lake!  I think that the thing that made my work that little mile extra is that I made a newspaper call The Green Lake Times.  My favourite thing of my Chapter Chat is how I wrote the Warden saying that at Camp Green Lake they have extreme rock climbing sessions and taco Tuesday!  The  hardest thing of making my Chapter Chat was probably trying to make my newspaper look like a actual newspaper!  I think I did a pretty good job in doing that!  I called my newspaper The Green Lake Times because I know in America there is a newspaper called the New York Times!  When I was making my missing persons poster for Stanley, I was trying to make a reference from the story.  My reference was in the reward.  I made the reward not only $10,000 but also 1 pair of recycled shoes.  Stanley's Dad is an inventor and he is making a machine that recycles shoes.  I had really fun making my Fantastic Favourite!  Even though I finished on Tuesday I think that the effort I put in is an overflowing jar of honey!

SPLOOSH!

This week I decided to do a Creation Station activity.  There were two options too pick from.  There was to make a jar of SPLOOSH and to create a diorama of the story!  I chose to make the SPLOOSH!  We had to make a jar of SPLOOSH because when Stanley found Zero under a boat called Mary-Lu,  he was eating 100 years old spiced peaches made by Kate Barlow.  He decided to call it SPLOOSH because it was mushy.  I had a lot of fun making this because I liked making my SPLOOSH look disgusting!  The hardest thing was probably taking the wrapper off my jar because it was really sticky!  The easiest thing was probably writing the ingredients to my SPLOOSH!  I think the thing that made my Chapter Chat look even more fabulous was making a circle label at the top that reads:  WARNING Do Not Eat After 24/7/1869!  After two days of making my SPLOOSH it truly looks disgusting because it's BROWN!  I think that this was my favourite Chapter Chat so far!  I also think that my work is an overflowing jar of honey!
